Two Attempted Burglaries in Greensboro End With Suspect's Arrest
Caroline County, MD - The Caroline County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported attempted burglary in the 300 block of Church Street in Greensboro, Maryland, on July 12, 2026 at around 8 p.m.
While deputies were still investigating, they received word of a second attempted burglary nearby, this time in the 300 block of Cedar Lane.
Deputies quickly began canvassing the area to search for a suspect.
With help from the Maryland State Police, deputies located a male matching the description given by the victim and witnesses. The suspect was identified as Cristian Escalante Hernandez, 26, of Greensboro, Maryland.
Hernandez ran from deputies on foot. Witnesses say he fell several times during the chase before deputies were able to catch up with him.
During the arrest, Hernandez hit his head on the ground. He also showed signs of being under the influence of alcohol.
Emergency medical crews were called to the scene and took Hernandez to a hospital in Easton, Maryland for a precautionary evaluation.
Once he was cleared by medical staff, he was taken to the Caroline County Sheriff's Office for processing.
Hernandez now faces the following charges:
- Two counts of Third-Degree Burglary
- Two counts of Fourth-Degree Burglary
- Intoxicated Public Disturbance
After processing, Hernandez was taken to the District Court Commissioner's Office, where he was ordered held without bond.
Hernandez was transported to the Caroline County Detention Center, where he remains in their custody.
