Two Good Choices and One Big Mistake in Wicomico County Council District 7
Wicomico County, MD - Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, and District 7 on the Wicomico County Council has three people on the ballot trying to earn your vote. Megan Outten is the Democratic candidate. Ross Evans is the Republican candidate. Joe Venosa is the independent candidate.
I think either Megan Outten or Ross Evans would do well for Wicomico County. I think Joe Venosa would be a big mistake, a major catastrophic error on voters in Wicomico County.
Here's why.....
Megan has run for Mayor of Salisbury and Salisbury City Council, and now she's running for County Council. Ross is new to politics. I've never met him. I've only heard him speak at candidate forums, and he comes across as calm and seems like a nice guy who really cares about the county, and the future direction of the county. That's all I'm going to say about those two.
This editorial is about Joe Venosa.
If you've watched a County Council meeting, in person or online, you've seen Joe Venosa speak during public comment. A lot of the time when he speaks, it's about the County Executive Julie Giordano. Obviously, the man has no love lost when it comes to our County Executive, I'd say it's a weird obsession that just never ended.
Sadly, instead of just disagreeing with her, he has now turned to name calling and degrading her on a routine basis.
At a recent council meeting, Joe Venosa said to the county executive, "This is why crazy people should be loved by their parents. Otherwise, this is what happens." It was so bad that even Council President John Cannon had to step in and said, "Your disparaging comments to the executive were out of order".
Joe Venosa is asking for your vote and a seat on that council, and yet he's still talking down to the County Executive in a public meeting.
Additionally, at a recent NAACP candidate forum, Joe Venosa said, "We have an executive right now who has called Haitian immigrants "cockroaches" in public many times". To my knowledge, he has never shown any proof of that, and no one can find me any evidence that this was ever said. When he was asked about it, he simply said....... he heard it from someone.
And let us also not forget that Joe Venosa led the ballot effort to get rid of the county executive job altogether. I believe that effort came from his dislike of the current county executive, and it would have taken away a voice from the citizens of Wicomico County. This shows he would allow his personal feelings to take away our voice, simply and for no other reason that he doesn't care for our county executive.
I don't see how those two could ever work together knowing their past. So why would we want to take the chance?
Now I want to be open about my own history with Joe Venosa, so you can weigh in on that as well. On September 11, 2025, I hired an attorney out of Florida who handles copyright and federal trademark cases to send Joe Venosa a cease-and-desist letter. Joe Venosa and several others on the show Open Agenda said things about Eastern Shore Undercover that were not true, and after the continuous issues, I'd had enough and seeked out legal assistance.
We were encouraged to file a lawsuit but I decided against it in the end, and I made that choice with my family. A lawsuit would have named several other people, and I did not want to drag them into the stress.
One more thing. Some of you may think this is childish, but I'm bringing it up anyway because I think it shows character, or lack thereof. Many of you have seen the social media accounts that I believe are tied to Joe Venosa. What you may not have seen is what's on his very own Facebook page, open to the public and it's still there today, so you can certainly go look at it on your own for verification.
I don't really care what people think about my weight or my looks. People have the right to call me what they want, make fun of my weight and my looks, and that is their prerogative.
But I think it's childish to take a shot at someone's weight or looks and turn it into a cartoon to make fun of and put down a business or individual in our community.
On April 5, 2025, Joe Venosa did that to me, and multiple times since. I've attached a cartoon below that is published currently on his Facebook page.
You be the judge. Should someone who makes cartoons like this to put people down because of their weight and appearance, be a leader in our community?
Vote for whoever you wish. But ask yourself this..... Is this the type of leader you want on the county council?
