Two Men Arrested After Fight and Taser Incident Outside Dewey Beach Restaurant

Dewey Beach, DE - In the early morning hours of September 13, 2026, the Dewey Beach Police Department responded to the 2000 block of Coastal Highway for a disorderly incident outside a local business.

Officers found an intoxicated man who had reportedly become hostile inside the Starboard restaurant. Security staff had already removed him from the building before police arrived.

The man was identified as Ezra Pendleton, 24, of Lincoln, Delaware. Once outside, he kept yelling profanities and acting disorderly, causing nearby patrons to move away from the area.

A second man, Oliver Barnes, 22, of Milford, Delaware, stepped in and tried to calm Pendleton down. That effort did not go as planned, and a physical fight broke out between the two men.

Officers gave both men repeated commands to stop and comply.

Pendleton did not follow those commands, so an officer used a department issued Taser to take him into custody.

While Pendleton was being arrested, Barnes got involved again. He made physical contact with one of the officers and refused to step back despite several warnings.

Officers then deployed a Taser on Barnes as well, and he was taken into custody along with Pendleton. Both men were transported to the Dewey Beach Police Department for processing.

During the investigation, police learned that Pendleton had made threatening comments to a member of the security staff before he was removed from the restaurant. Those comments reportedly included references to having shot someone in the past and a threat to do it again.

Oliver Barnes was issued criminal summonses for offensive touching and disorderly conduct. He was released on his own recognizance.

Ezra Pendleton was charged with criminal trespass, resisting arrest, terroristic threatening, and disorderly conduct. He was arraigned through the Delaware Justice of the Peace Court and released on a $2,200 unsecured bond.

Police say no serious injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
