Two Teens Arrested After Wild Pursuit Ends in Cruiser Ramming

Dorchester County, MD - On July 24, 2026 at approximately 4:39 a.m., Cambridge Police Department officers were in the 700 block of Foxtail Drive checking on reports of people trying to break into vehicles in the area. Officers spotted a vehicle matching the description and attempted a traffic stop.

The vehicle refused to stop and took off at a high rate of speed. Nearby units joined the pursuit as the vehicle drove recklessly through the area.

An officer deployed stop sticks at Glasgow Street and Leonard's Lane. The vehicle ran over the sticks, but the driver kept going.

The pursuit continued through several city streets, even with the tires flattened. It eventually made its way into the Algonquin neighborhood, where the vehicle pulled into a yard on Manito Drive.

An officer stopped at the driveway entrance and got out to prepare for an arrest. The vehicle suddenly turned and drove toward the officer, who had to move quickly to avoid being hit.

The vehicle then rammed the police cruiser. With no tires left and heavy damage, the vehicle finally came to a stop.

Both people inside were taken into custody without further incident. The vehicle, a 2013 Hyundai, was found to have been stolen out of Fruitland.

Both individuals arrested are 15 years old. The driver faces several charges, including first degree assault, reckless endangerment, motor vehicle theft, and other related criminal and traffic offenses. The passenger was also charged with motor vehicle theft along with other related criminal charges.

The juvenile driver is being held by Juvenile Services at the Lower Eastern Shore Children's Center. The juvenile passenger was released to a parent or guardian.
