Two Women Charged After Food Lion Shoplifting in Delmar
Delmar, DE - The Delmar Police Department says two women are facing charges after a shoplifting incident took place at the local Food Lion.
The incident happened on Wednesday evening, July 8, 2026, at around 5:11 p.m. at the Food Lion store located at 38650 Sussex Highway, in Delmar, Delaware.
According to police, officers were dispatched to Food Lion after a report of a shoplifting that had just happened. While responding, officers spotted the suspect vehicle leaving the scene and pulled it over.
Police say their investigation showed that Barbara Hayward, 61, and Devon White, 55, had taken items from the store without paying for them. Officers were able to recover the stolen property during the stop.
Both women were issued criminal summons for shoplifting as a result of the investigation.
Each is facing one count of shoplifting under $1,500.
