Unlicensed Driver Charged After Truck Flips in Wicomico

Wicomico County, MD - On Saturday, October 3, 2026, at approximately 4:40 p.m., the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office responded to the 27000 block of Riverside Drive Extended, Salisbury, MD, for a reported crash. Deputies found a white Ford F-150 pickup truck flipped over off the side of the road.

The driver of the truck was identified as Asdrubal Emilio Martinez Ponce, 27, of Wicomico County. Deputies looked into how the crash happened and who the truck belonged to.

What they found led to more than a traffic crash. According to the Sheriff's Office, Martinez Ponce did not have a valid driver's license.

Deputies also learned he did not have permission to drive the truck. The owner told deputies the truck had been parked and secured at a relative's home before the crash.

The owner said he never gave Martinez Ponce permission to take it. The truck is valued at about $18,000.

After the investigation at the scene, Martinez Ponce was taken to the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office. He was then arrested.

Martinez Ponce is charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. He also faces related traffic charges.
