Wanted Salisbury Man Arrested With Handgun

Wicomico County, MD - A wanted man is now behind bars after a multi-agency effort led to his arrest in Salisbury, Maryland.

On August 7, 2026, the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office announced that Kevin Matthew Werkheiser, 41, was taken into custody following a joint investigation. The effort involved the Sheriff's Office Joint Community Action Team, its Criminal Investigation Division, and the Salisbury Police Department.

Werkheiser was wanted on two active Wicomico County Sheriff's Office warrants. Investigators believed he was also in possession of a firearm.

Over the course of several days, members of the three units worked together to track him down. Detectives set up surveillance near the Hardee's on South Salisbury Boulevard in Salisbury.

Detectives made contact with Werkheiser at that location and took him into custody. The arrest happened without incident.

During a search connected to the arrest, investigators found a Taurus .357 Magnum revolver. They also recovered about 190 grams of marijuana from his property.

Werkheiser now faces additional firearm-related charges on top of the original warrants. He was taken to the Wicomico County Detention Center following the arrest.

The Sheriff's Office thanked everyone involved in the case. Officials credited the teamwork between JCAT, WCSO CID, and Salisbury Police for the successful outcome.
