Wawa Is Coming to Pocomoke City - Join the Celebration
Worcester County, MD - A new Wawa is on the way to Pocomoke City, and the community is invited to help mark the moment.
A sign unveiling ceremony is set for Thursday, June 4, at 12:30 p.m. at the corner of U.S. Route 13 and Stockton Road. The event celebrates the future home of the popular convenience store chain and what it could mean for the area.
The ceremony is being hosted by Maryland's Coast-Worcester County Tourism and Economic Development (WCTED), the City of Pocomoke City, and Paramount Realty.
WCTED Director Melanie Pursel called the news a big win for the region.
"The addition of Wawa represents new jobs, expanded services for residents and travelers, and continued commercial development in Pocomoke City," Pursel said. "Projects like this help advance our mission of encouraging sustainable economic development and enhancing the quality of life for those who live, work, and visit Maryland's Coast."
Officials say the new location is expected to bring more than just coffee and hoagies to the area. It's seen as a catalyst for more business investment along the Route 13 corridor in the southern part of Worcester County.
Wawa stores are known for their fuel, fresh food, and around-the-clock convenience. For many communities, a new location signals growing demand and commercial confidence in an area.
Community members, business leaders, and local stakeholders are all welcome to attend.
Whether you're a longtime Pocomoke City resident or just curious about what's coming to the area, this is a chance to see local economic development in action.
