Wicomico County Youth Fishing Derby Returns June 6 at Salisbury City Park

Wicomico County, MD - A beloved community tradition is coming back this summer, and it is open to all kids who love to fish.

Wicomico County Recreation & Parks is hosting its annual Youth Fishing Derby on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at Salisbury City Park. The event is completely free, and no registration is required ahead of time.

Children ages 15 and under are welcome to take part. Check-in begins at 8 a.m., and fishing runs from 9 to 11 a.m. After the fishing wraps up, participants will be recognized with awards and treated to snacks.

Boys and girls will have the chance to compete in several fun prize categories. Those include Most Fish Caught, Biggest Fish, and Most Unusual Catch, among others.

Kids who plan to participate should come prepared. Bring your own fishing rod and bait, and get ready for a morning on the water.

Events like this one give children a chance to enjoy the outdoors and make memories with family and friends. The Youth Fishing Derby has been a staple in the community for years, and this summer is another opportunity for local kids to be part of that tradition.
