Easton, MD - A California woman was cited for theft last month after loss prevention staff at a local grocery store caught her leaving with nearly $775 in unpaid merchandise.

On April 27, 2026, officers with the Easton Police Department were called to the Giant Food store at 8223 Elliott Road in Easton, Maryland, in response to a reported altercation.

When officers arrived, they spoke with loss prevention staff at the store. Staff told officers that they had tried to stop a woman who walked out of the store with unpaid items, passing all points of sale without paying.

Loss prevention kept the woman in sight and helped direct officers to her location. Officers were then able to identify her as Carina M. Singh, 41, of Chico, California.

The total value of the merchandise she took was $774.79. Officers issued Singh a Uniform Criminal Citation for Theft: $100 to under $1,500.

She was released following the citation.
