ARMED SUSPECT AT LARGE IN LEWES, DELAWARE AFTER OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING

Lewes, DE - The Delaware State Police (DSP) have established a significant presence on Blackwood Drive in Lewes, Delaware, as they search for an armed suspect involved in an officer-involved shooting.
Residents in the area are advised to remain vigilant, avoid the vicinity, and contact 9-1-1 immediately if they notice anything suspicious or have information relevant to the case. The area remains active as authorities continue their investigation and continue searching for the suspect.
At approximately 5:30 a.m., the DSP reiterated their request for residents near Blackwood Drive to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity to 9-1-1 as they work to locate the armed individual.
By 7:40 a.m., the DSP addressed misinformation circulating online, confirming that no officers had been injured during the incident. They urged the community to rely on verified updates from official sources.
At 8:09 a.m., the suspect was identified as Jason Arnold. Arnold is described as approximately 5'10" tall and weighing 230 pounds. He was last seen wearing a light-colored shirt and dark shorts.
Authorities believe Arnold is armed and dangerous and was last seen fleeing in the area of Blackwood Drive.
Residents are advised not to approach Arnold if spotted and to immediately contact 9-1-1.

Update 6/23/2025 at 10:30 AM - DSP believes that the suspect may be barricaded alone inside a residence off Blackwood Drive. This info is NOT confirmed however they are investigating it further.
Update 6/23/2025 at 12:00 PM -At approximately 11:30 a.m., the suspect, Jason Arnold, was found inside the residence. The scene is secure, and there is no threat to the public. During the incident, DSP learned that a 69-year-old woman in a neighboring home was injured. It is unclear at this time whether her injury was directly related to the exchange of gunfire. She was treated at a local hospital and has been released.
