Cambridge Man Arrested on Arson Charges for 2025 Fire
Cambridge, MD - On March 19, 2026, an arrest warrant was served on a Cambridge man in connection to a 2025 house fire.
Patrick Ryan Gifford, 28, was located by Deputy State Fire Marshals at his residence in the 500 block of Academy Street in Cambridge, Maryland. The arrest was executed with the assistance of the Cambridge Police Department.
Gifford is accused of setting fire to a home located in the 1100 block of Race Street in Cambridge, Maryland. The incident occurred on August 27, 2025, at 10:18 AM.
Preliminary information indicates the fire was started following an argument with an occupant of the residence.
Thirty-six firefighters from the Rescue Fire Company responded to the one-alarm fire. The fire was brought under control in approximately one hour. Five occupants were displaced by the incident. The fire caused an estimated $250,000 in damages to the two-story, wood-frame, single-family home.
On March 16, 2026, Gifford was indicted by a Grand Jury. The charges include first-degree arson, attempted first-degree arson, first-degree malicious burning, and second-degree malicious burning. He is also charged with malicious destruction of property over $1,000 and three counts of reckless endangerment.
Following his arrest, Gifford was transported to the Dorchester County Detention Center without incident. If found guilty of all charges, he faces a maximum penalty of 95 years and six months of incarceration, along with up to $123,000 in fines.
