Residential Structure Fire in Cambridge, Maryland Displaces Family of Five

CAMBRIDGE, MD - A fire at a Cambridge, Maryland, residence is under investigation by the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office.
On Tuesday, August 27, 2025, at approximately 10:18 AM, firefighters from the Rescue Fire Company were dispatched to a structure fire at 1105 Race Street in Dorchester County, Maryland.
The incident involved a two-story, single-family wood-frame home. Thirty-six firefighters responded to the single-alarm fire and brought it under control in about one hour.
The occupants discovered the fire, which originated on the exterior of the structure, and evacuated safely. No injuries were reported.
The fire caused an estimated $150,000 in damage to the structure and $100,000 to its contents. Five residents have been displaced and are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.
The preliminary cause of the fire remains under investigation. Deputy State Fire Marshals ask anyone with information to call their office at 410-713-3780.
