CAMBRIDGE POLICE INVESTIGATING FATAL SHOOTING FROM WEDNESDAY NIGHT

Cambridge, MD - On June 25, 2025, at approximately 8:37 PM, officers from the Cambridge Police Department responded to reports of a shooting at the West Side Bypass and Route 343.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered a 45-year-old male victim lying in the roadway, suffering from a single gunshot wound to the upper chest. A civilian and an off-duty police officer were already performing life-saving measures, including CPR.
Cambridge Police officers continued to administer CPR until personnel from Dorchester County Emergency Medical Services arrived. Despite these efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim has been identified as Steven Lee Dennis, a resident of Cambridge, Maryland. During the initial investigation, authorities observed a passenger vehicle leaving the area on Route 343 shortly after the incident.
This tragic incident is currently under active investigation. The Cambridge Police Department is urging community members to come forward with any relevant information.
