DELAWARE STATE POLICE ARREST SUSPECT OF WICOMICO COUNTY HOMICIDE

Millsboro, DE - The Delaware State Police (DSP) collaborated with the Millsboro Police Department to successfully apprehend a man wanted for homicide in Wicomico County, Maryland.
On the evening of May 2, 2025, law enforcement received crucial information regarding the suspect of a homicide's whereabouts, which led them to a business location on Centerview Drive in Millsboro, Delaware.
The suspect, identified as Fernando Medina-Moreta, was initially spotted driving a dark gray Honda Accord with Delaware registration. Acting on the tip, the Delaware State Police quickly located the vehicle and executed a strategic traffic stop on DuPont Boulevard, near Avenue of Honor Road, resulting in the suspect's arrest without incident.
A thorough search of the vehicle uncovered a loaded Glock 9mm handgun hidden under the driver's seat. Further investigation revealed that this firearm had been reported stolen in Pennsylvania.
Following his arrest, Medina-Moreta was taken to Troop 4, where he faced several serious charges, including possession of a firearm during a felony, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, and receiving a stolen firearm.
Additionally, he was identified as a fugitive from another state.
After being arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 7, Medina-Moreta was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution, with a cash bail set at $13,500. He is currently awaiting extradition to Maryland, where further legal proceedings are scheduled.
