Fatal Police Shooting in Cambridge Under Investigation

CAMBRIDGE, MD - A fatal officer-involved shooting took place on September 4, 2025, in Cambridge's Deep Harbor development.
Cambridge Police Department officers responded to a report at approximately 5:05 p.m. regarding a male subject chasing a female with a knife near Seaway Lane and Riverview Wharf in Cambridge, Maryland.
Upon arrival, officers encountered the armed individual and attempted to de-escalate the situation.
The subject refused commands to drop the weapon and advanced toward officers. Police issued warnings and attempted to retreat as the individual continued to approach.
A Cambridge Police Department patrol officer discharged his duty weapon, striking the subject multiple times.
Officers immediately provided life-saving measures until emergency medical services arrived. The subject was transported to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Cambridge before being airlifted by Maryland State Police Aviation to Tidal Health Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
The individual succumbed to his injuries at the medical facility. He has only been identified as a 30-year-old Caucasian male from Cambridge, Maryland.
The Cambridge Police Department has requested assistance from the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Unit for the investigation. The Independent Investigation Division of the Attorney General's Office (IIDAGO) will conduct the primary investigation.
