WORCESTER COUNTY, MD - On December 17, 2025, the Worcester County Commissioners appointed Jackie Cutlip to the Board of Education (BOE). She fills the seat left vacant by the resignation of Katie Addis.

Cutlip will serve the remainder of the four-year term, which continues through November 2026. She represents District Six, the Northern District.

Cutlip brings extensive experience to the role. She and her husband have owned and operated Bayside Boat Rentals in Ocean City since 1999. She is also a mother of three Worcester County Public Schools (WCPS) students. Over the past 13 years, she has held various volunteer roles within the school system.

This includes serving as PTA president and a member of the School Improvement Advisory Committee for both Showell Elementary School and Berlin Intermediate School.

"I chose to volunteer for the opportunity to fill the vacant Board of Education seat because I believe it is important to ensure that strong, thoughtful efforts to support and improve Worcester County Public Schools continue without interruption," Cutlip said. "As a mother of three WCPS students-two currently enrolled and one recent graduate-I have been actively involved in our school system for more than 13 years in a variety of roles. Supporting student safety, transparency, and strong school communities has long been important to me, and stepping forward for this role felt like the right decision at this time."

Her involvement extends to countywide initiatives as well. Cutlip served on the School Safety Committee and participated in two Superintendent Selection Committees. She is currently a volunteer field hockey coach with Worcester County Recreation & Parks.

The decision to appoint Cutlip was unanimous. Commissioner Jim Bunting noted that while many qualified candidates expressed interest, the board agreed on her suitability for the role.

"While several excellent candidates expressed interest in filling the vacancy, the commissioners unanimously agreed that Jackie is the right fit for this position," Commissioner Jim Bunting said.

Superintendent of Schools Annette Wallace also expressed support for the appointment.
"Worcester County Public Schools welcomes Mrs. Jackie Cutlip to the Board of Education. We appreciate her willingness to serve our students, staff, and community," Wallace said. "I look forward to working collaboratively with her as we continue to advance the work of public education in Worcester County."

Cutlip expressed her readiness to begin her duties. "I am sincerely grateful for the trust placed in me by the commissioners and for the opportunity to serve," Cutlip said. "I will approach this role with an open mind, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to listening, collaboration, and getting meaningful work done on behalf of our students, staff, and families."

The Worcester County BOE is comprised of seven members serving staggered four-year terms. Members meet on the third Tuesday of each month in Newark. When vacancies occur outside of the election cycle, the commissioners are responsible for filling the open seats.
