MULTIPLE PEOPLE SHOT AND 50 SHELL CASINGS LOCATED FROM OVERNIGHT LAUREL SHOOTING

Laurel, DE - A disturbance in the early hours of Sunday, February 11, 2024, led Laurel Police to the 2800 block of Daniel Street in Laurel, Delaware, for what they found to be a shooting, with over 50 rounds fired. 

Police officers arrived at the location around 2:00 AM, at which point a large group of individuals was spotted leaving an apartment building, either in vehicles or on foot. 



Upon further investigation, police learned that gunshots had struck three individuals during the incident. A suspicious vehicle was seen leaving the area and ignored police orders to stop. 



This triggered a pursuit involving the Laurel Police Department, and with the help of the Seaford Police Department and their Stop Sticks, the suspects were successfully apprehended without any further issues. 

All apprehended individuals were taken in for questioning however they were later released. 

The Delaware State Police were brought in to secure the crime scene and ensure it was safe to conduct the evidence collection process. 



Laurel Police Department detectives and the Delaware State Police Evidence Detection Unit (EDU) worked together to process the crime scene, locating more than 50 spent shell casings from various types of firearms, outside and within the premises of the apartment.

The Laurel Police Department is continuing to investigate a shooting incident that occurred on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2024 in Carvel Gardens. 

 

The identification of the victims is not being released, however the following information is available at this time:


  • Victim 1: 17-year-old male being treated for two gunshot wounds listed in serious but stable condition

  • Victim 2: 18-year-old female sustained a graze wound, was treated and released on-scene

  • Victim 3: 26-year-old female being treated for seven gunshot wounds listed in serious but stable condition
