Ocean City Announces Special Event Zone for OC Rock & Ride Bikefest

OCEAN CITY, MD - Ocean City officials have announced that the resort community will implement a Special Event Zone from Wednesday, September 10, 2025, through Sunday, September 14, 2025, during the OC Rock & Ride Bikefest.
The designation comes as thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts are expected to visit the area for the annual event.
Enhanced Traffic Enforcement During Event
The Special Event Zone designation reduces established speed limits throughout the designated area and increases fines for traffic violations.
Under legislation signed in 2020, penalties for specific motor vehicle violations will be enhanced during this period.
Similar to construction zones, violators will face increased fines or potential arrest depending on the severity of the offense.
Multi-Agency Police Response
Citizens can expect a significant police presence throughout the weekend as multiple law enforcement agencies assist the Ocean City Police Department.
Officers from the Maryland State Police, Worcester County Sheriff's Office, and Howard County Police Department will join local police to strictly enforce all traffic laws.
Traffic congestion and alternative traffic patterns are anticipated throughout the event weekend.
Safety Guidelines for Spectators and Pedestrians
Officials urge spectators to keep sidewalks clear for pedestrian traffic. Spectators should not encourage drivers to perform wheel spinning, "burn-outs," or other unlawful stunts. Officers will enforce laws against both spectators who incite dangerous driving and the drivers who commit the violations.
With high pedestrian traffic expected, pedestrians are encouraged to follow Walk Smart guidelines. This includes using crosswalks when crossing roadways, waiting for traffic signals to change, and ensuring drivers can see them while crossing.
Parking Restrictions in Effect
The Ocean City Police Department reminds visitors that trailer or oversized vehicle parking is prohibited on any street or paved public lot without a permit between May 1 and October 31.
Trailer parking and oversized vehicle parking on Baltimore Avenue is prohibited at any time during the year.
